Rethymnon is only 4 miles away (10-minute drive), while Chania and Heraklion are 41 and 44 miles away, respectively. Aquila Rithymna Beach Hotel offers classically decorated rooms and bungalows as well as extensive children’s facilities. Guests can enjoy lunch at Mournies tavern, resting under the shade of mulberry trees, or try gourmet dishes at the Ancient Eleftherna restaurant. There is also a typical Greek Kafeneion serving traditional beverages and meze.

The cut-off date for reservations was on June 18, 2012 and the on-line reservation link assigned to our group does not work anymore. The hotel has assured us that they will try to assist our group with future reservation, however availability is low due to the high-peak season and room rates might be higher. If you are interested reserving a room at the conference hotel, you can call the hotel at +30 28310 71002 or email the hotel at reservation.crs@aquilahotels.com (and cc admin@isvc.net). In both cases, mention your affiliation with the 2012 International Symposium on Visual Computing.

Traveling to Crete

By plane: Rethymnon is nearly equidistant from both main airports, Chania and Heraklion (41 and 44 miles respectively) - meaning many more flight options (you can fly into either airport, whichever suits you). However, there are many fewer flights to Chania than to Heraklion so many people staying in western Crete arrive in Heraklion. There are two main carriers to Crete from Athens: Aegean Air and Olympic Airlines. In the summer, there are also many international flights to Heraklion and Chania (e.g., Swiss, EasyJet, Condor, Transavia, Air-Berlin).

By boat:There are now three ferries going from Athens (Piraeus) to Heraklion and Chania: Minoan, Super fast and ANEK. For more information, please click here.
